Day 6 and 7: A Carol Turned On Its Head And A Yuletide Classic

A Blackadder Christmas Carol: I am not a huge British comedy fan but I have to admit that this one was a keeper.  In fact, my girlfriend, who I venture to say is even less of a British comedy fan than I am, could not stay away from my computer despite having a multitude of things to do.  Well played Blackadder.   This was a nice change of pace in the Christmas Carol genre where we have a pathetically nice Blackadder being shown the benefits of meanness by a ghost of Christmas.  I recommend this to anyone who likes a good Christmas movie and is not afraid to laugh a bit.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town:

This has been a favorite of mine since childhood and continues to be.  We get to see why Santa Claus wears those red pajamas and climbs down your chimney along with all of his other foibles.  I would say that the only part I really dislike about the show is how much more religious it gets than others of its ilk do, but it’s certainly easy to get past and very forgivable.  My favorite part is, of course, The Winter Warlock (Winter to his friends), who steals the show with some nice one liners.  I won’t lie to you on this one though, Santa Claus is a bit full of himself in this show and perhaps just a teensy bit creepy.  Maybe.  Check it out and see for yourself!

More to come tomorrow!
