Voyager Entertainment Doesn’t Care

Posted on 14 October 2014 by VinnieAve

So if you follow me on Twitter, you may remember me losing a bit of shit over having my Star Blazers 2199 vol 4 BluRay having issues with skipping. As part of this I used the contact form to ask for help.

I sent this message:
So I just finished up watching StarBlazers 2199 vol 4 but my disc was skipping. Is this an authoring issue?

Now there are obvious issues with this message but it wasn’t until today, 2 weeks later, I received a response.

Thank you for your contact. I’m sorry late reply.

Sorry We have stopped selling Discs and postponed selling vol.5 and 6.

If we start, we will announce on our Facebook and web site.

Star Blazers Customers service

This is the most useless response I have given. They essentially said they are not doing anything current, and then reminded me that they have delayed the final 2 volumes. Really they just don’t care about what is going on or their customers. They didn’t ask any follow up questions or say who would be able to help. I want to support this release but I really don’t know anymore, I love this show but this makes it hard. Thanks for reading my rant and letting me vent. Also the issue came down it possibly being related to my Blu-ray player, the disc has worked on other players.

It’s That Time Again: CISPA

Posted on 13 April 2012 by DM

Well it is that time again.  Where once we faced the possibility of SOPA and PIPA now we face CISPA and it will most likely be a tough nut to crack.  One of the reasons that there was so much support for SOPA/PIPA protesters was because it acted against various internet companies by costing them time and money.  CISPA proposes to provide these companies with information at no cost to them, which could include your personal information if you are suspected of being a cyber threat. “Cyber threat” is a loose term in that you can be marked with if you are suspected of theft or wrongful borrowing intellectual property.  It is a bit different from what was faced before but is still a threat to personal freedoms and liberties. Among the companies that have chosen to support CISPA so far are AT&T, Facebook, IBM, Microsoft, Verizon, and US Telecom.  Somewhat surprisingly, Netflix has not leapt to the support of CISPA, despite plentiful rumors infiltrating the internet ether this week.

Is CISPA all bad? I do not believe so. In fact, I believe that the proposed legislation is moving in the right direction.  That said, I think it would be a tragic mistake to have this legislation approved.  There are questions of whether is it constitutional and it seems to be posses too much vagueness when it comes to nailing down what types of information can be shared.

As a community, we need to fight this.  That is not all we have to do though.  It is time to stop passively waiting for these legislations to come and then protest them.  We need to make efforts to be informed and to proactively guide the government to a legislation that works for us all.  Whether is from the formation of a Super PAC or through some other means it is time to be proactive.

I am by no means an expert in any of this.  I recommend strongly that you research for yourself the ins and outs of what is going on.  I will provide you with some links.  Look through those and then find more on your own.  Then, let us see what we can do about leading our government instead of allowing it to lead us.

Being a Better Geek: Mobile Suit Gundam 31-33

Posted on 31 March 2012 by VinnieAve

Vinnie’s Take

I will freely admit that I am the reason there is such a small batch this week. I flew out to California for a conference and didn’t have much to watch much. That being said, at last we have left Earth and are now making way to ending the series. I think its hilarious that Zeon is so impressed with White Base that they will pursue it so heavily that the real fleet can move out into space. The mobile armors keep getting sillier peaking with the Zakrello. The last important thing this week was the introduction of Sleggar, big dumb asshole, who while is a good pilot and gunner has decided that the will keep hitting on Sayla and Mirai. Speaking of Sayla, she’s back to obsessing about Char and making sure she doesn’t kill him.

DM’s Take

While Vincenzo is the reason for our short run of episodes this week, I am the reason for our delay.  So let us get to it.  First off before I rag on Amuro anymore; how badass was it with him dueling in space with the enemy mobile armor and just casually killing some folk in the spaceship.  I am pretty sure our little boys grown up a bit but I think we can honestly say his mother would not be proud.

Poor Fraw Bow! She really gets no respect from Amuro.  Sleggar is introduced in this set of episodes and I love him. I spoke with Vincenzo about this earlier this week and he expressed some surprise about the fact that I’m digging Sleggar but let’s face it, anyone who can keep Amuro a notch down is ok in my book.

OK really?! “Oh, hi Amuro.” That’s what he gets? Brain damaged or not that’s kind of ridiculous.  Between that and Mirai betrothed this was a fairly silly episode.  Till next week.

Tiny Tower for Android Gets a Little Less Tiny

Posted on 01 February 2012 by Jessica Dunn

Popular iOS game, Tiny Tower, is slowly but surely being ported over to Android by Mobage.  Before yesterday, the Android version of the adorable property management game we lacking some of the feature of its iOS cousin.  Having never played the game on an iphone, I wasn’t really missing features like store upgrades or the bitbuilder until I read that I was missing out on them.  Yesterday, however, I noticed some new features in my game.  I am now able to upgrade my stores, access bitbuilder, and share a link to my tower.  I can’t find any kind of patch notes for this latest update, so I don’t know if any other updates were made to make it a bit closer to the iOS version, but I would keep an eye out for any other improvements that might have snuck their way into your tower.
