It seems I only appear when I have an odd rant at 1Am or when an anime movie trailer pops up. So, since its not 1 Am, there must have been an anime trailer released recently. Back in the summer I reported that Yamato was getting a remake next year, and today the trailer hit YouTube:
Wow, that was a surprising dull minute lost, sorry about that. This is the 3rd Yamato film to be release in recent years and I have seen none of them, just being honest about that. This is supposed to be a remake of the first season of Space Battleship Yamato (released in America as Star Blazers). I’m not surprised they made a dull trailer but I hope that it leads to a film that both retells the original story and is capable of being safely watched by new fans (no plot holes, no excess of references, etc.), my fear is that this film will only be watched by old fans who already know the work. It’s odd that all the character designs have been revamped (not completely changed, they look like old style designs that were done recently, all the characters look like the characters but have some updates) but the tech looks exactly the same, I know the Yamato is unchangable (not complaining) but I’m surprised the other stuff still looks the same, I had hoped they could have gone the route Star Trek took and did a fuller style update while still keeping the franchise right at the core.
